Our client, a well-established and growing restaurant and deli group, is seeking two dynamic and hands-on General Managers to oversee daily operations at their Johannesburg outlets. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced hospitality leaders who thrive in fast-paced, high-quality food environments and are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences while driving profitability.
Description
The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the smooth daily running of the restaurant, bakery, and takeaway sections, ensuring seamless service delivery and operational excellence. The role requires a proactive leader who can balance strong people management with financial oversight and a passion for guest satisfaction.
You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the senior management team to uphold brand standards, improve efficiencies, and drive overall performance at store level.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all front and back-of-house operations for the restaurant, bakery, and deli.
  • Ensure consistent high-quality service and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage supplier relationships using Marketman or similar inventory systems.
  • Track sales, discounts, and cost controls via POS systems such as Lightspeed.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to ensure profitability.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of team members.
  • Conduct regular staff evaluations, ensuring development and motivation.
  • Manage staff schedules to meet business demands efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Handle customer feedback promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
  • Oversee facility maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment care.
  • Foster a positive and performance-driven workplace culture.
Salary: Negotiable based on experience

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Restaurant or General Manager within a busy hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, bakery, and takeaway service management.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven financial acumen with experience in cost control, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in POS and stock management software (e.g., Marketman, Lightspeed).
  • Hands-on management style with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
