GENERAL MANAGER
ENGCOBO, EASTERN CAPE
The General Manager will take full responsibility, in ENGCOBO, for the strategic, operational, and financial management of both the fuel station and the hardware store. This role requires strong leadership, excellent commercial insight, and hands-on operational control to ensure consistent performance, profitability, and an exceptional customer experience across both business units.
GENERAL MANAGER
Minimum skills and experience required:

  • Matric (Grade 12) required, further studies in Retail, Business, or Management beneficial
  • Minimum 3 years in a managerial role within retail, fuel, hardware, or a related environment
  • Strong leadership, financial acumen, and operational management experience
  • Solid knowledge of stock control, sales processes, and POS systems
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operations for both the fuel station and hardware store
  • Ensure both sites remain clean, well-maintained, and fully operational
  • Manage opening and closing procedures and optimise workflow across all areas
  • Introduce and maintain operational systems that improve efficiency and service quality
Staff Leadership
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate all staff
  • Manage staff schedules, attendance, and labour planning
  • Build a positive, productive working environment
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions when required
Financial Oversight
  • Manage cash-ups, daily banking, stock variances, and till reconciliations
  • Monitor expenses, reduce shrinkage, and drive profitability
  • Approve purchasing and manage supplier relations for both business units
Stock and Inventory Control
  • Oversee inventory levels and manage replenishment
  • Conduct regular stock takes and investigate discrepancies
  • Ensure correct pricing, stock rotation, and loss control measures are in place
Customer Service
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards
  • Address customer issues promptly and professionally
  • Build strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and community stakeholders
Compliance and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Enforce company policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to legal and operational standards for fuel handling, fire safety, and OHS requirements
