General Manager or Management Couple - Lodge Group - Middelburg, Eastern Cape
Our client, a well-established and fast-growing group of 3-4 star lodges in the Middelburg, Eastern Cape region, is seeking an experienced General Manager or Management Couple to take the reins of a high-occupancy lodge operation. This is an exciting opportunity for hospitality professionals who are ready to embrace a quieter town lifestyle while driving service excellence in a dynamic environment.
Description
As General Manager or Management Couple, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple hospitality properties running at a consistent 97% occupancy rate. The lodges primarily cater to corporate and business travellers and pride themselves on high-quality service standards.
You will manage a team of approximately 40 staff and report directly to the Managing Director. This is a live-in role with off-site accommodation provided, making it ideal for couples and families looking for a lifestyle shift to the serene Karoo.
In the case of a management couple, one partner will focus on the daily lodge operations, while the other will have the opportunity to support the wider business interests of the group, which includes commercial ventures outside of hospitality, such as in the mining sector.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' senior hospitality management experience (lodge or hotel)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Proven ability to manage high-occupancy operations
• Excellent guest relations and communication skills
• Financial and budgetary experience essential
• Hands-on, solutions-driven approach to operational challenges
• Valid driver's license
• For couples: One must have prior hospitality/lodge GM experience, while the other should have transferable operational/administrative or management skills to contribute to the broader business
