Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fresh Dept Manager to oversee our Home Meal Replacement (HMR), Bakery and Deli section at Bedfordview Spar.

Key Responsibilities:

Recipe Development & Management:

Develop, test, and improve recipes for a wide range of fresh meals and ready-to-eat products.

Food Costing & Profitability:

Calculate and monitor food costs to ensure profitability while maintaining high-quality standards.

Procurement & Stock Control:

Manage all aspects of buying ingredients, packaging, and equipment. Ensure timely ordering and optimal stock levels.

Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance:

Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards (HACCP) within the kitchen and serving areas.

Staff Management:

Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff and front-of-house servers to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service.

Menu Planning:

Collaborate with management to plan and design menus that align with customer preferences and seasonal trends, such as platter menus, online menus

Operational Efficiency:

Oversee daily kitchen operations, monitor food preparation processes, and ensure consistency and quality in every dish.

Customer Engagement:

Work closely with the retail team to ensure customer satisfaction and address any feedback or concerns.

Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, HMR Manager, Bakery manager or in a similar role within a retail or supermarket environment. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards. Experience with recipe development, food costing, and menu planning. Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure. Proficiency in inventory management and procurement processes.
