Freight Estimator - KZNESTIMATOR1. JOB TITLEEstimator2. REPORTING TOMDJOB DETAILSPURPOSETo play crucial role in the efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods for our clients. Responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with freight forwarding services, considering numerous factors such as transportation mode, shipping routes, customs duties, exchange rates and other relevant expenses. Managing competitive pricing, maintaining profitability, and providing reliable cost estimates to clients.KEY PERFORMANCE AREASACTIVITIESCost EstimationManage costs against shipping requirements by gathering all required information, analysing costs, and presenting the best solutions as and when required.Present accurate and realistic costs by including all related input costs such as shipping rates, fuel charges, customs duties, exchange rates, profit margins etc. for all projects, within required deadlines.Manage the accuracy of quotes by collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain up to date, accurate costs for different transport modes always.StrategyMaintain relevance by staying informed about industry trends, market rates, changes in regulations and business strategy always.Contribute to the business strategy by understanding the goals of the business and always aligning cost estimation practices.Integrate business strategy into pricing models by collaborating with management and relevant departments on an ongoing basis.Maintain open lines of communication with internal departments including sales and coordination by participating in meetings, engaging with business communication channels and sharing insights regarding market trends, rate changes and regulatory updates that may impact cost estimates and project timelines.KEY PERFORMANCE AREASACTIVITIESDocumentation and ReportingSupport future estimations and strategic decision-making by maintaining comprehensive records of historical cost data in a database which is updated daily.Support management and business goals by submitting reports summarising industry trends and their potential impact on cost estimates on a quarterly basis and as required.FinancialContribute to the organisational financial sustainability and health by interrogating estimates and costing models against required profit margins, identifying opportunities and risks, and discussing in a solutionoriented and constructive manner monthlyStaff ManagementManage resourcing by identifying roles required, supporting the development of job descriptions, and recruiting, selecting and inducting staff as required.Manage staff by defining performance expectations, providing staff with feedback on performance, addressing any areas of misconduct or nonperformance, managing that compliant disciplinary measures are taken when required and building relationships with staff monthly and as required.Develop staff by identifying skills gaps and supporting staff to develop skills monthly and as required.Monitor compliance with HR policies and procedures by tracking staff behaviour, addressing areas of non-compliance and implementing corrective action as required.REQUIREMENTSQualificationsBachelorxe2x80x99s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.Experience3-5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in freight forwarding or a similar role with a focus on cost estimation.Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and organization.COMPETENCIES*AttributesEffective communication and people skills.Meticulous and able to work with precision.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong critical thinking skills.Collaborator with the ability to collaborate across different departments.FunctionalProficiency in using relevant software and tools for cost calculations and data analysis.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: R20,000.00 - R50,000.00 per monthAbility to Commute:Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal (Required)Ability to Relocate:Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal: Relocate before starting work (Required)
