The Role: Fragrance Development Technologist
This role supports the research and development team in designing and applying fragrances that meet diverse client requirements. It offers a defined career path, with the opportunity to grow into a head perfumer role within two years. Ideal for someone with both scientific knowledge and a passion for scent creation, the role bridges technical precision with creative expression.
Key Responsibilities
Minimum 2 years of experience in fragrance development, evaluation, or applications support
Characterise and match fragrances across oils, fine fragrance, personal care, home, and fabric care
Prepare, analyse, and interpret GC-MS reports for fragrance quantification and profiling
Manage raw material quality, substitutions, and formulation adjustments
Participate in olfactory evaluations and accurately interpret findings
Maintain and update the internal fragrance library and technical records
Keep abreast of new ingredients, technologies, and global fragrance trends
Troubleshoot customer concerns through application testing and desktop research
About You
Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
Proven experience in fragrance development, applications, or R&D support
Strong project management and organisational skills
Computer literacy with excellent attention to detail
Confident communicator with the ability to work across teams and with clients
Proactive, self-driven, and eager to grow into a perfumer role
Passionate about fragrances, with curiosity and creativity to push boundaries
