VACANCY: FOREMAN (ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION)

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: PERMANENT

GRADE: C-UPPER

DIVISION: REFINERY - ASSET CARE

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • The Refinery Electrical and Instrumentation Foreman is responsible for maintenance of all electrical and instrumentation infrastructure within the Refinery Business Unit.
  • The role holder will form an integral part in designing and managing the implementation of planned maintenance programmes for a specific business unit, in line with optimising Plant OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Management of maintenance work order process and ensuring that weekly and monthly KPIs are met. Assists in cost reduction initiatives by reducing waste and improving efficiencies.
  • Self-management by:
  • Compilation of own PDP in conjunction with line manager.
  • Attend training interventions as per approved PDP.
  • Managing others by:
  • Conducting 6 monthly performance reviews of subordinates.
  • Compiling PDP for subordinates.
  • Ensuring that subordinates attend training interventions as per approved PDP.
  • Ensuring discipline is maintained as per company policies.
  • Maintain earthing and bonding throughout the Refinery Business Unit Refinery site.
  • Reduce E&I maintenance costs.
  • Improve plant availability.
  • Work in conjunction with the Reliability Management team in setting up and reviewing of maintenance plans for all electrical and instrumentation infrastructure.
  • Take accountability for the execution of electrical and instrumentation infrastructure in line with set maintenance plans.
  • Maintain and analyse the Refinery energy requirement and seek areas of improvement, in conjunction with Production teams, where consumption can be reduced.
  • Work in conjunction with the Utilities Manager in preparing the energy budget.
  • Calibrate all meters where required to ensure compliance with ISO9001.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments based on external and internal influences.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Participate in any inspection or audit as may be required.
  • Execute electrical and instrumentation preventative maintenance systems through the management of Maintenance Performance KPIs.
  • Implement, drive and monitor Zero Harm, practices, systems and processes, in areas of Safety, health and environment.
  • Demonstrate felt safety leadership, amongst direct and indirect reports.
  • Monitor and share Company-wide similarities/learning opportunities.
  • Comply with and ensures that all health and safety rules are met and acts pro-actively by addressing any safety concerns which may be harmful to self or other employees.
  • Manage subordinates and contractors health and safety and ensure no disabling injuries occur.
  • Participate in formal SHEQ Audits.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage resource for optimal performance.
  • Assists in cost reduction initiatives by reducing waste and improving efficiencies.
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and recorded before the issuing of engineering and statutory equipment.
  • Maintain engineering equipment issued from the Stores in accordance with the statutory compliance.
  • Conduct inspections in-line with quality engineering standards before issuing to plant.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A completed Matric certificate/equivalent qualification.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have acquired a National Diploma and/or a higher qualification in Electrical or Process Control Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 - 15 yearsxe2x80x99 of working experience within the Electrical and/or Instrumentation field, with at least having served in a similar position for 3-5 years.
  • SAP PM experience and/ or other CMMS is essential.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • MS Office Package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) proficiency is essential.
  • Drive continuous improvement with the Refinery Business Unit.
  • Have an ability to be a team player within the organisation.
  • Communicate to relevant associates with regards to any Asset Care related data information.
  • Be able to apply a customer centric approach to maintenance.
  • Ability to manage employees and contractors.
  • A good understanding of the processes related to Asset Care/ Maintenance of the Refinery plantxe2x80x99s equipment performance and administration.
  • Good knowledge of PLC, including troubleshooting on equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of SCADA and Siemens S7 PLC.
  • In-depth knowledge of the permit to work system.
  • Ability to set-up, understand and work based on a specific budget.
  • Ability to perform incident and accident investigations.
  • Ability to schedule and conduct plant maintenance.
  • Compile maintenance plans for new and existing equipment as may be required.
  • Manage technical information (manuals, drawings, etc.) where required.
  • Ensure completion of statutory maintenance timeously.
  • Knowledge and application of company procedures as applicable.
  • Determine SHEQ incidents for further analysis and action.
