Job Description

A Fleet Manager is a logistics specialist in the transportation industry. The primary responsibilities include purchasing and maintaining vehicles for deliveries, registering and licensing vehicles and finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits.

The Fleet Managers is responsible for assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet, maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency, among other duties. Moreover, the Fleet Manager will need to discipline drivers who are not making efficient use of their time, requiring excellent leadership and decision-making skill.

Key Responsibilities - but not limited to the below:



Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency including Dry Bulk Vehicles such as but not limited to Forklift, Bobcat, etc.

Ensuring Vehicles are maintained and logbooks are completed when jobs are being accepted and recording of existing jobs when completed

Recruitment of quality drivers

Ensuring All vehicles are registered and licensed timeously as well as ensuring driver licenses and PDP's are valid and renewed timeously

Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing, part replacements and inspection

Ensure that a 100 point service checklist is completed before vehicle/s is released and inform managers of any additional issues or faults that may also need attention by issuing a copy of the checklist to the relevant manager

Ensure regular spot checks done on all vehicles for all branches and any faults or issues to be reported the manager immediately

Ensure all service and part replacement quotes are authorized by the Head Office before proceeding

Utilizing GPS System and Daily vehicle trip sheet to ensure operational efficiency

Ensure that tasks to be completed are categorized according to the priority scale and ensuring the smooth running of all business units

Ensure that all relevant Managers are informed on progress and updated if any delays

Ensure an effective inspection system is in place to maintain fleet vehicles, equipment, workspaces

Ensuring safety & compliance of workplace, vehicles, drivers & mechanics

Review and follow up on all accidents and traffic fines

Ensure that any accidents or irregular events are reported via email to management

Follow all accident procedures and file claims with insurance. Follow up with insurance about on-going claims.

Identify and mitigate operational risks

Fleet management : 3 years (Preferred)
