3. PURPOSE
You will ensure the delivery of in scope activities of the Fixed asset process to Business Unit Stakeholders in ESA (Engie Southern Africa). Under the guidance of the General Accounting Manager, this role will require you to complete the following activities in accordance with agreed service levels.
4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities of the Fixed Asset Accountant will be, but not limited to, the following:
Asset Register Management & Transactions
Process Fixed Asset maintenance activities accurately and timeously.
Manage and record accurately the AUC assets - project entities as per IFRS
Prepare assets reporting for centralized assets(not limited to: Fixed asset recons, Neg NBV, Zero Book values)
Perform the assessment of useful live updates with BU annually
Update the decommissioning assumptions and assessing relevancy (Accounting estimates) with the support of the Financial Reporting specialist
Prepare the decommissioning calculation for review by the General manager &HOD to assess reasonability and accuracy, thereafter processing of the journal.
Adhere to financial accounting/reporting policy, standards, procedures, and timetables
Communication between AIFA, Operations, and Fixed-Asset Position on asset impairment.
Controls, Compliance & Reconciliations
Performa periodic physical fixed-assets counts and verification
Actively manage the ageing of the unreconciled items and to be cleared out timeously
Support compliance to audit findings and ensure quality implementation.
Report issues and incidents and adhere to measures that are put in place to mitigate re-occurrence.
Ensure that systems and controls are in place to manage resources and ensure good corporate governance practices
Performance Monitoring & Analysis
Prepare the depreciation variance analysis and commentary
Follow appropriate procedures to accurately, consistently, and efficiently perform transactions or resolve queries.
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-functional Support
Engage with appropriate stakeholders to support SLA deliverables & deadline management.
Participate in business projects as required.(SAP UAT or upgrades)
Continuous Improvement & Personal Development
Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation.
Set and achieve individual performance and development objectives to support a high performing culture
Any adhoc requests required to support other accounting teams within the centralized entities.

6. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education
A completed Bachelor's Degree (NQF 7) in Accounting/Finance/Commerce
Qualified accountant with professional membership in SAICA/SAIPA/ACCA
Language
English: excellent communication skills spoken, written and verbal
IT
Must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Enterprise Resource Planning applications (Maximo/SAP or equivalent)
Experience
At least 3-5 year experience in the accounting field preferably in Fixed Asset management
Knowledge of both IFRS as required and applied to the IPP business
Knowledge of the main database platforms used - (SAP, MS Office)
Technical knowledge of accounting standards of IFRS
Used to working within a multi-cultural environment
Interaction with operation, maintenance, administration teams
Experience working in a shared services or centralized finance team is a plus
