Job Overview

• Location: Pretoria East, Gauteng
• Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
• Work Model: Hybrid (2 days remote per week after probation)

What you will be doing:

• Test firmware and software across multiple platforms - from embedded devices to mobile apps (iOS and Android).
• Create, execute, and maintain test plans, cases, and documentation.
• Analyse application logs, identify issues, and report them to the development team.
• Test device connectivity, hardware-software interactions (audio routing, microphone and speaker behaviour, LEDs), and Bluetooth performance.
• Work with oscilloscopes, serial logs, and firmware flashing tools.
• Perform regression testing, smoke testing, functional testing, and post-deployment testing.
• Collaborate with developers and hardware engineers in an Agile environment using tools such as JIRA.
• Contribute to the automation of testing processes where feasible.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, CE, ISO).

What they are looking for:

• 3-5 years of experience in software and firmware testing.
• A qualification or certification in software testing (a diploma/degree in a software-related field is an advantage).
• Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies (SDLC and STLC).
• Experience with automated testing tools and platforms.
• Familiarity with coding (HTML, JavaScript, Kotlin or Swift preferred).
• Hands-on experience in documenting and maintaining software test artifacts.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and JIRA processes.
• Comfortable working with hardware-related testing tools and analysing hardware-software interactions.
• Advantageous: experience testing Bluetooth-enabled devices and medical device software.
