Job Description
As a Principal Geologist with our client, you will be at the forefront of their geosciences initiatives, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive geoscientific strategy. Your role will encompass leadership, policy formulation, competency development, and ensuring statutory compliance. You will also oversee mineral resource management and guide exploration and exploitation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a geosciences strategy that aligns with company objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to geoscience teams, fostering a multidisciplinary approach.
- Establish and maintain competency standards and structures for geoscience activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and serve as the lead resource competent person.
- Take ownership of the mineral resource portfolio, managing it effectively.
- Lead and oversee group exploration activities, evaluating and replacing resources.
- Direct mine geology teams in production activities, including grade control, resource modeling, exploration drilling, and hydrogeological-related tasks.
- Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology.
- Postgraduate qualification in geology is preferable.
- Business qualification beneficial.
- 10 or more years of industry experience in mining, exploration, and relevant geosciences supporting disciplines.
- Membership in the SA Council for Natural Scientific Professionals (SACNASP) or Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA).
- Valid certificate of fitness.
