Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Position:

The financial manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial reporting function of the Company by ensuring IFRS compliance, accurate and timely reporting, strong internal controls, and proactive business insights that support operational excellence and growth. The individual will lead and support the finance team to deliver reliable financial information that drives decision making and long-term profitability.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Financial Management and Financial reporting

Overseeing preparation of and reviewing management accounts and financial reports. Monitoring and ensuring reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, fixed asset register, and relevant IFRS16 schedules. Ensuring audit files are maintained and coordinate external audits. Overseeing financial statement reviews and statutory submissions (VAT, EMP201, EMP501). Managing cash flow forecasting, covenant reporting, and relationships with banks and other key service providers in the finance sphere. Reviewing creditors reconciliations and authorising weekly/monthly payments.

Team Leadership and Development

Leading, coaching, and developing the finance team to build capability and drive performance. Setting clear goals, monitoring progress, and supporting the team in achieving individual and departmental objectives. Aligning and delivering departmental objectives with company strategy and business priorities.

Controls & Compliance

Ensuring full compliance with tax, payroll, and statutory financial requirements. Safeguarding company assets, inventory, and cash through robust internal controls. Enhancing finance systems, workflows, and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control

Strategic & Business Partnering

Providing financial insights to support company strategy and operational decisions. Supporting EXCO and operational leaders to improve restaurant-level profitability. Delivering clear financial reports and presenting results to EXCO

Ideal Requirements

CA(SA) or CIMA qualification preferred 3-5 years' post-articles experience ideally in multi-unit retail, QSR

(Quick Service Restaurant)

or FMCG environment

(Advantageous)

Minimum 2 years' in a senior management role or leading a finance team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Excellent working knowledge of IFRS, South African tax, payroll, and compliance regulations Proficient in financial systems preferably Sage Evolution Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for financial modelling and reporting
