Job Description

The Sernick Group has a position available for a Financial Manager at our Head Office in Kroonstad. The position reports directly to the Financial Director/Joint CEO of the Sernick Group.

We are looking to hire a dedicated and motivated financial manager to represent the Sernick Group. Sernick, founded in 1982, is a diversified organisation with its focus on agriculture and agricultural processing activities, including a Bonsmara stud, animal feed production, feedlot, red meat production (abattoir, de-boning and processing) as well as a Butchery and Deli. Sernick is based in Kroonstad in the Northern Free State and consists of seven business entities, each adding value to the group. The group employs more than 600 people with annual revenues of R 1.5 billion.

You will be supported by a highly experienced finance team and work closely with our executive management team to transform our operational strategies into reality by supporting operating unit heads with your financial expertise.

To excel in this role, you should have an analytical mind and a keen understanding of how a business works in the real world not just on paper.

Requirements:

BCom Accounting degree. Five years' prior experience and completed articles with any of the following regulatory bodies: SAICA, SAIPA or SAIBA. CA(SA) preferred. Good analytical skills and highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Caseware experience will be advantageous. Sernick operates in the Agri environment and applicants therefore need to be able to speak, read and write in both English and Afrikaans at an advanced level. Own transport and a valid code EB (Code 08) drivers' licence.

Responsibilities:

The primary function of this position will be:

Providing insights on the financial health of the organisation through monthly management accounts and annual financial statements. Lead the external audit function and prepare group financial statements for audit. Ensuring the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations. Day-to-day cashflow- and capital allocation management. Group asset management including insurance. Produce long-term business plans. Develop and manage budgets and financial systems/models. Carry out business modelling and risk assessment.
