Job Summary
A Cape Town based development finance business, within financial services, that specializes in high-impact credit lending to BEE companies, is looking for a Financial Manager to join their team.
At a minimum, a candidate would be required to have at least 2-3 years' experience in financial accounting post articles and previous exposure to financial services, specifically credit lending, leveraged finance or investment banking would be a distinct advantage. Importantly the candidate should have an interest or passion for development finance.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Manage financial operations and ensured compliance with local financial regulations.
  • Provided monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to CEO and directors.
  • Oversee cash flow, working capital, and financial risks, and find ways to effectively reduce operational costs annually and meeting budgets.
  • Supervise accounts payable/receivable processes, optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Lead and guide a team of 4 finance professionals, fostering growth and continuous improvement in performance.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems Xero, Simplepay, improving workflow efficiency.
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Conduct financial analysis to guide decision-making processes and improve business outcomes.
  • Prepare, budgets, and financial planning processes.
  • Ensure compliance by submitting timely tax returns and other company returns
  • Lead the financial year end and BBBEE audit
  • Prepare and present board packs to directors quarterly
  • Prepare and review policies and procedure documents for finance and HR department
  • Interview, draft and review new employee contracts including loading them on the payroll system.
  • Prepare monthly payroll run to pay all active employees for the month.
  • Oversee any employee related queries including CCMA cases where they may arise.
  • Manage EFT payments
Qualifications and Experience required:
  • 3+ years' experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within a credit lending, leveraged finance or investment banking environment or exposure to or interest in development finance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, CA(SA)
  • Solid mastery of financial analysis, modelling and valuation work with minimal oversight
  • Support ability to be able to create presentation materials using PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Strong interpersonal & communication (written and oral) skills
  • Team player with the ability to build effective relationships with management teams and other intermediaries and colleagues
  • Ability to maintain elevated level of productivity and efficiency
  • Manage priorities while working on a number of opportunities simultaneously
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong individual initiative with the ability to take a proactive approach to assigned projects
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • A willingness to continuously learn
