Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Reporting:
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flows for smaller group companies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission
  • Manage accounting processes and produce accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports aligned with IFRS and internal policies
  • Ensure statutory compliance and accurate accounting records for all smaller group companies
  • Cost & Inventory Management:
  • Oversee inventory transactions and ensure accurate reconciliations between stock and finance systems
  • Drive automation and system integration to enhance efficiency and data integrity
  • Report on inventory movements, reconciliations, and financial performance of smaller group companies
  • Conduct variance analysis on stock movements and direct operating costs, providing clear insights and actionable recommendations
  • Audit, Compliance & Governance:
  • Prepare, review, and approve audit schedules, ensuring audit readiness and IFRS compliance
  • Manage relationships with auditors and resolve audit queries efficiently and accurately
  • Assist the Senior Manager: Finance with coordinating annual audit deliverables across teams
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal finance policies
  • Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement:
  • Engage with internal stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Finance to ensure accurate and timely financial processes
  • Collaborate with external partners, auditors, and service providers to resolve queries and maintain accurate reconciliations
  • Participate in discussions and negotiations with regulatory and government bodies (e.g. ACSA, ATNS), reviewing and challenging proposed charges
  • Support negotiations and financial reviews through scenario analysis, reconciliations, and variance explanations
  • Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and manage the accountants responsible for inventory reconciliations and smaller group company accounts
  • Act as a coach and mentor, setting clear goals aligned with business objectives
  • Drive accountability, performance, and continuous adherence to finance policies
  • Foster a collaborative, disciplined, and results-driven team culture
Minimum Requirements:
  • BCom Honours in Finance or Accounting
  • Professional qualification: SAIPA / SAICA or equivalent (Essential)
  • Completed articles (Essential)
  • CA(SA) (Advantageous)
  • Minimum 10 years finance experience, including 3 years in a management role
  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Experience preparing and finalising accounts in line with South African regulations
  • Exposure to multiple financial and operational systems with complex reconciliations
  • Experience in an accounting software package (Advantageous)
