Job Description


Primary purpose This role will be responsible for managing the long-term and day-to-day operations and strategy of the finance department, including engaging with business managers on a portfolio and/or deliverables basis to support decision making. The Finance Director will also be responsible for delivering important insights to executive management and finance leaders and will drive the long-term planning, forecasting and budgeting processes for the assigned portfolio and provide detailed monthly reports and analysis directly to the portfolio executive and CFO. Key roles and responsibilities Financial management Preparing annual financial statements including all relevant IFRS disclosures for the statutory entities within the assigned portfolio. Planning, designing and coordinating the implementation of sound accounting and financial management and control systems and procedures. Facilitating the maintenance of accurate and up to date financial and accounting records for effective and smooth running of all business operations within the assigned portfolio. Directing all aspects of the financial accounting system, including cash flow management, expenditure tracking and monthly reporting. Assisting with the preparation of the budget for the assigned portfolio. Leading the preparation of annual business plans and analysis. Interpret and present key findings, using understanding of key business drivers and recommending measures to further improve results. Coordinating the annual audit of the assigned portfolio aligning to the group annual audit. Signing off on all audit packs for the assigned portfolio. Ensuring the implementation of all financial policies and procedures. Establish efficient processes for monthly and quarterly performance reporting. Project management Spearhead ad hoc projects to further improve overall performance of the team and assigned portfolio. Providing decision support to senior finance leadership on investment / project decisions as well as strategic organizational and functional developments. Providing thought leadership and guidance over core processes building efficiencies and streamlining deliverables. Strategic advice and partnership Building and maintaining excellent relationships with members of the assigned portfolio, obtaining trusted business partner status. Ensuring real time support, financial guidance and improved insights into business performance and informed decision making for the assigned portfolio. Assessing and advising on appropriate actions to manage business and finance risk and communicate impact effectively. Leading or supporting the development of business cases, apply business acumen and commercial awareness to deliver business objectives. Designing and proposing financial solutions to business challenges whilst maintaining governance and financial controls. Providing quality commentary to relevant reports and input into the financial forecast for the selected portfolio. Providing technical, procedural and policy guidance to the Group. Leading performance diagnostics, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. Dialogue around budget and spend to optimize budget and investments; return-on-investment discipline. People management Managing finance resources in the assigned portfolio. Recruiting and hiring employees and ensuring the competence of the team. Providing the relevant tools and systems to enable effective team performance. Evaluating performance of all employees in the team. Assigning, monitoring, and coordinating assignments and work activities. Providing active leadership to the Finance organization, developing and championing change processes, people and systems. Excellent knowledge on GAAP and related financial compliance requirements such as IFRS Education and training: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration Chartered Accountant registration with appropriate recognised professional body Experience: At least 10 years of professional experience or equivalent with 5-7 years of relevant experience in a well-disciplined organisation where best practices are integral to the management of the business. Experience leading a financial planning and analysis (or similar) team with a thorough understanding of financial accounting and management reporting. Solid experience leading and managing in a matrix environment. Substantial experience working with ERPs and financial management systems. Experience in financial, accounting and project management systems, policies, and procedures Job Type: Permanent Education:
