Financial Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced

Financial Accountant

Key Responsibilities

Implement and enhance accounting systems and processes. Identify and recommend process improvements; assist in implementation. Gain in-depth knowledge of the business to support strategic decision-making. Provide accurate and relevant financial insights to managers and directors. Maintain and enforce sound financial controls and procedures. Review Statements of Profit & Loss and Financial Position. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations. Compile monthly management accounts and financial analysis on schedule. Ensure integrity and compliance in financial transactions and reporting. Improve the clarity and quality of financial reporting. Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes. Monitor and report on daily cash flow. Assist with recruitment and manage direct reports within the finance team. Oversee finance staff performance, including KPI management. Manage debtor and creditor aging; provide actionable feedback to departments. Administer and monitor debtor insurance (CGIC). Train staff on accurate VAT posting and review VAT entries. Calculate VAT for review by the Financial Manager (quarterly and annually). Manage all bank and credit card accounts. Process RSA and foreign payments. Prepare monthly journals (payroll, interest, stock). Conduct weekly and monthly expense and sales analysis vs. budget. Perform stock reconciliations and analysis. Support the annual BBBEE application process. Assist with payroll processing using Sage Professional. Liaise with company secretarial services and auditors. Prepare audit working papers and respond to audit queries. Prepare annual financial statements. Oversee day-to-day accounting administration. Support other finance or administrative duties as required. Deliver consistently high-quality work in a timely manner. Comply with all company policies, code of conduct, and health & safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with ERP systems (essential). Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (essential). Completed or partially completed SAIPA or SAICA articles (advantageous).
