An established luxury lodge and boutique hotel group operating across Southern Africa is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic financial accountant to join their Johannesburg-based head office team. This group manages award-winning lodges and iconic safari properties with strong international appeal.
As financial accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance, supporting sustainable growth and excellence in hospitality. Your insight will directly impact the success of multiple exclusive properties across the region.
The role
Reporting to the finance manager, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring tax compliance, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, auditing, and financial analysis across the portfolio. You will liaise with operational teams across properties and uphold best practices in hospitality finance.
POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements

• Matric certificate and relevant tertiary qualification in

or (diploma or degree) * Minimum 4-5 years' experience in a senior finance role, ideally in luxury
or travel * Proficient in accounting software such as SAGE 300 (or similar)

• Advanced Excel and solid MS Office suite skills
• Experience with hospitality property systems such as Opera V5 or Opera Cloud preferred
• Knowledge of Sage Payroll Professional advantageous
• Proven track record of accurate financial reporting and managing audits
• South African citizenship and valid RSA ID
• Own reliable transport and valid driver's license

Key responsibilities

• Maintain meticulous financial records and ensure transactional accuracy
• Compile and interpret monthly management reports, balance sheets, and income statements
• Assist in creating and managing annual budgets and rolling forecasts
• Ensure tax compliance and manage submission of statutory returns
• Liaise with external auditors and ensure full audit readiness
• Analyse financial performance and recommend improvements
• Mitigate financial risks and ensure company policy compliance
• Support strategic

Please note:
Position is based on-site in Bryanston, Johannesburg
Salary is R30,000 CTC maximum
5% Provident Fund (compulsory)
Company retirement age: 60
