Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of the Finance Manager-Agriculture in the Finance department. The successful candidate will report to the Integrated Supply Chain Finance Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• The Agricultural Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the Potatoes and Vegetables division within McCain South Africa Frozen Foods Business.
• This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the division's financial success and growth.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural finance, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
• The Agricultural Financial Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the financial success of the Potatoes and Vegetables division within McCain South Africa Frozen Foods Business.
• The individual must possess a deep understanding of agricultural finance and demonstrate a proactive approach to optimizing financial performance.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Financial Reporting, Monitoring, Budgeting and Forecasting.

• Financial support and guidance to the McCain SAF agriculture team for both potato and vegetables raw materials.
• Develop and maintain financial models, budgets, and forecasts for the Potatoes and Vegetables division, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial data.
• Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
• Responsible for accurate Budgeting, Forecasting and variance analysis, and communication of expected variances to limit and reduce Potato and Vegetable Agriculture risk to the business.

Risk Management by creating a strong control environment.

• Risk mitigation through implementation of SOP's and controls.
• Audit compliance and resolution of Audit findings.
• Elimination of unexplainable variances and losses.
• Reduction in the number of outstanding transactions to be processed at the seed store.

Management of Farmer payments

• Enable a streamlined Farmer payments process by reduction in the:
• Number of early payments
• Rate of debt recovery from farmers
• Number of miscellaneous payments

Deadline driven through timely submission of quality reports

• Adherence to deadlines and queries in line with:
• Submission of reports vs target submission
• Number of queries raised on reports submitted
• Re-submission of reports

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with other functional areas, including Operations, Procurement, and Sales, to ensure alignment of financial goals and objectives.
• Dispute resolution to enable smooth flow of operations into production.
• Performance management through feedback and collaboration.
• Development of subordinates to future proof the organization.

Financial Systems Management

• Maintain and optimize financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.

Personal Development

• Ensure personal growth and application of new competence in function to enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring that all personal development plan activities are agreed and completed within specified timeframes.
• Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
• Identify and establish new partnerships with Agricultural stakeholders with the aim to enhance the Agricultural Customer Value Proposition (CVP).

REQUIREMENTS:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural finance, preferably within the potato and vegetable industry.
• Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, presentation skills utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• SAP experience advantageous.
• Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and best practices in the agricultural industry.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on professional development and growth.
• Driver's license
• Potato and Vegetable Safety Standards and Protocols.

• Implementing controls specifically on inventory management & supplier payments

• Variance projection (including profit & loss projection)
