Job Description

Job Purpose




The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the finances for the business to ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as the business's Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines.



The Finance Manager role will be required to support the optimization of the function providing a fully integrated finance specialist service to organisation and all financial and management reporting.



You take accountability for the financial stewardship of the organisation. Minimise risk through ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the company financial results and put in place robust controls and governance.



You lead reporting on past and future trends and ROI in support of future decision making.



Responsibilites include team leadership, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, general ledger production, working capital management, financial analytics, statutory compliance and internal and external stakeholder engagement.



Create and enforce a financial control framework that conforms to legislative requirements (including but not limited to the PFMA, the Companies Act) and best practice guidelines (King Code on Corporate Governance).



You manage statutory accounting and reporting, internal and external audit, risk management, treasury, taxation and funding requirements. The role requires planning, reviewing and enhancing financial processes, controls, systems, reports and accounting practices and liaising with internal and external auditors and the board Audit and Risk sub-committee to ensure sound financial governance.

Principal Accountabilities



Strategy Development




Mitigate financial and operational risk through internal audit health plan. Lead the target setting process and own the monitoring of key strategy delivery KPIs Develop and implement the assurance framework

Leadership




Lead and coach your team of Finance professionals, developing top talent and creating an attractive proposition and external hires Dynamically balance cost, risk and service levels in delivering on the finance organization's responsibilities

Business Planning




Actively monitors the process improvement expenditure and service delivery against plans and budgets

Reporting




Support senior management in making decisions and facilitate the understanding of performance of organizational functions or units Monthly analysis of business performance, assess against the plan and propose corrective actions, opportunities and risks to support the delivery of internal and external commitments. Establish and maintain scorecard for categories, reviewing key P&L components such as volumes, pricing, product mix, COGS and operating costs

Funding Organisational Strategy




Steward business financial health through driving cash generation through P&L, tight working capital management and smart cash facilities from financial institutions Plan and execute long-term cash flow planning

Financial Controlling




Supervises the finance team staff on operations that includes, but is not limited to, month/year end close, accounts receivable & payable, financial reports, payroll, invoicing, cash receipts and disbursements. Ensure proper financial accounting through accurate general ledger management and accurate financial statements Implementing and monitoring effective internal control systems Ensure information and data quality, optimizing controls, incl. record keeping Lead the development and implementation of the Department's strategy Drive the profitability of the Group and the overall contribution of the Division Ensure the management and control of the department's budget Ensure cost and headcount containment within area of control Sign off invoices against cost centre and actively track against contracts and budgets

Procurement




Balance the budget as per the company's constraints Develop effective goals, standards, and metrics to keep track of the company's and employee's key performance indicators (KPI) Improving processes for efficiencies

Stakeholder Management




Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key financial partners

Risk & Governance Management



Create and enforce a financial control framework that conforms to legislative requirements (including but not limited to the PFMA, the Companies Act) and best practice guidelines (King Code on Corporate Governance). Ensure adherence to the Delegation of Authority Framework Provide stewardship of organisational assets and ensure that the organisation conducts itself in accordance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements Develop appropriate internal policies to drive governance and create frameworks to deliver organisational strategy Establishes and maintains controls to safeguard assets; documents and recommends Craft robust contingency plans for business sustainability

Operational




Ensure that effective Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems are in place for the department Actively track progress against action plans and flag any risks that may impact progress Annual Financial Statements (AFS) Monthly Financial Accounting Control Environment

Qualifications & Experience



CA (SA) or CIMA Equivalent

Knowledge and Skills



Plus 6 - 8 years Financial Management experience, of which 4 years have been at senior level GAAP, GRAP and Internal Financial Reporting standards (IFRS) Microsoft Excel (Advanced) Financial Management experience Financial Reporting experience Strong Technical skills in Accounting Tax Strong knowledge of Management of Financial Reports and Financial Rations Professional Membership in the Accounting fraternity Previous experience of managing strategic financial projects
