Minimum qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate must have a minimum tertiary qualification, a BSC Agriculture degree focusing on Agronomy or Agricultural Economics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Field Manager Assistant to work closely with our Senior Farming Field Manager, learning and assisting in the management of designated farming units. The role involves planning, executing, managing, and reporting on various crop production plans, overseeing land preparations, planting, input application, and stock management. The Assistant will also provide regular updates and projections on crop progress and budgets.

Essential skills:

Excellent people skills, solid administrative discipline, and the ability to function independently are essential for this role.

Core Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have a strong customer focus, effective communication skills, and a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving. They should take ownership and accountability for their decisions and actions.

Desirable skills:

Knowledge of the grain industry, experience in farming and/or agriculture, and familiarity with row crop production environments are desirable. Basic knowledge of crop production inputs and budget management, along with ERP systems experience, are also advantageous.

General:

The Field Manager Assistant will be based in Bethlehem and will report to the Senior Farming Field Manager. The salary is market-related and includes a Travel Allowance and reimbursement for business kilometres traveled. Other benefits include a provident fund and medical aid. The candidate must have a reliable vehicle, preferably a utility (4x4/bakkie), and expenses for relocation will be covered if required.
