Fast Food Cook Job Roles and Responsibilities1. Food Preparation
Prepare and cook fast food menu items such as burgers, chips, grilled meats, sphahlo, sandwiches, and fried foods.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or menu specifications.
Slice, chop, grill, fry, and bake food items as required.
Ensure food is cooked to the correct temperature and presented neatly.
2. Kitchen Operations
Set up, clean, and organize cooking stations before and after each shift.
Operate kitchen equipment such as fryers, grills, ovens, and chip cutters safely and efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen area at all times.
Monitor food stock levels and report shortages to the supervisor or manager.
3. Quality and Safety
Follow food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., handwashing, sanitizing surfaces, using gloves).
Ensure that all food served meets quality, freshness, and portion standards.
Label and store food properly to prevent contamination or spoilage.
Dispose of waste and expired products according to company and health standards.
4. Speed and Efficiency
Prepare orders quickly and accurately during busy periods.
Prioritize multiple orders and work under pressure while maintaining food quality.
Support team members to meet customer service time goals.
5. Customer Service Support
Communicate politely with customers when necessary (e.g., confirming orders or clarifying preferences).
Coordinate with the cashier and serving staff to ensure smooth order delivery.
Handle special requests (e.g., "no salt," "extra sauce") as per instructions.
6. Teamwork and Communication
Work collaboratively with other kitchen and front-line staff.
Inform the manager of equipment faults, safety hazards, or supply needs.
Assist new staff with training on kitchen procedures and recipes.
7. Inventory and Stock Control
Receive and check stock deliveries for accuracy and quality.
Rotate stock using the
FIFO
(First In, First Out) method.
Help maintain inventory records when required.
8. Health and Safety Compliance
Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment and handling hot items.
Wear proper uniforms, gloves, and safety shoes.
Report any injuries or accidents immediately to management.
