Facilities and Maintenance Manager
Job Summary
The Facilities and Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective operation, maintenance, and safety of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. This role ensures that facilities are well maintained, compliant with regulations, cost-effective, and support smooth business operations. The manager leads maintenance teams and contractors while implementing preventative maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and extend asset life.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Management
Oversee day-to-day facilities operations, including buildings, grounds, utilities, and infrastructure
Ensure facilities meet health, safety, environmental, and legal compliance standards
Manage space planning, building services, and general upkeep
Maintenance Management
Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance programmes
Monitor and maintain plant, machinery, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance issues
Team & Contractor Management
Lead, supervise, and support maintenance staff and technicians
Appoint, manage, and evaluate external contractors and service providers
Ensure work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to service level agreements
Budget & Cost Control
Prepare and manage facilities and maintenance budgets
Control maintenance costs while ensuring operational reliability
Source quotations, negotiate contracts, and approve expenditures
Health, Safety & Compliance
Enforce health and safety standards and conduct regular inspections
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, audits, and inspections
Maintain accurate records, permits, and maintenance documentation
Asset & Project Management
Maintain asset registers and lifecycle plans
Coordinate refurbishments, upgrades, and minor capital projects
Support business continuity and risk management initiatives
