The Role: External Project Sales Representative - QS & Construction Procurement
This role exists to grow market share through specification-led, project-based sales within engineer- and QS-driven construction and civil environments. The focus is on developing specifications, defending them through tender stages, and converting technically compliant offers into confirmed purchase orders. The role contributes directly to project outcomes from early specification through to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Minimum 3 years of experience selling into QS- or procurement-led construction or project environments, applying this experience to drive specification and tender conversion
Develop and manage strong relationships with quantity surveyors, consulting engineers, contractors, and developers
Drive product specification and inclusion on commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects
Price tenders, respond to RFQs, and convert compliant bids into confirmed orders
Defend specifications against substitution and value-engineering pressure
Grow market share within the assigned sales territory
Identify and leverage branding and project visibility opportunities
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing, order fulfilment, and on-time delivery
Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and activity reporting
Provide technical and commercial guidance throughout the project lifecycle
About You
Minimum 3 years of experience in external B2B sales within construction, industrial, or project-based environments
Proven experience working with QS- or procurement-led buying processes
Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree preferred)
Strong commercial acumen with confident negotiation skills
Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
Technically confident and comfortable engaging with engineers and QSs
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within the territory
Computer literate with Microsoft Office; CRM experience advantageous
Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working independently in a project-sales environment
