Aon South Africa is recruiting an Executive Head: Mid to Large Clients in our Executive Committee in Sandton. The role is responsible for the growth strategy in the Mid-Large Segment (including Direct). The role provides overall leadership of Mid-to Large Broking and Client Relationships Management by developing and leading the execution of growth strategies including organic and inorganic growth, investment and innovation as well as delivery of Aon United strategies and global service standards.

What the day will look like

Developing, leading and managing the implementation of multi-year time horizon business planning for the Commercial Mid to Large Business Segment.
Leading and developing the teams to achieve revenue targets and client profitability consistent with Aon SA annual targets and ensuring the appropriate client servicing models are applied.
Leading all aspects of the management, governance and usage of Aon commercial products to ensure clients have best in class solutions.
To deliver excellence in client relationships, retention and growth of existing accounts and provide robust client promise and development plans.
New business growth and development, to include tender management and being part of bid teams as and when required
Engaging in cross-business initiatives with other solution lines in order to achieve objectives.
Implementing ongoing initiatives to remain informed and on par in respect of the insurance market in South Africa and elsewhere.
Ensuring that business conduct within the divisions is consistent with the standards of business conduct required by Aon as well as legislative and regulatory prescripts.
Manages carrier relationships to ensure clients receive solutions that exceed their needs.
Partners across all other solution lines and other sales channels to implement strategies to acquire new clients and grow existing client accounts
Contributing to and participating in Aon wide senior executive groups framework, coaching & mentoring, performance management, talent and compensation reviews.
Establishing key performance targets and financial budgets for the business units to optimise business performance in line with set objectives
Modelling strong leadership behaviours and ensuring an engaged and inspired workforce to improve colleague development, engagement and retention.
Manages solution line capacity and resources against opportunities, partnering with other leads such as Finance and the People Org.

A consistent track record in delivering results, product innovation, negotiating facility and renewal deals, securing new clients, and jeopardy account management. Excellent existing relationships with clients and partners (retail and commercial clients, including insurers and strategic partners) and ability to build positive relationships. Strong communicator and influencer - ability to effectively communicate, present and adjust messages accordingly to a variety of audiences and demonstrating ability to collaborate, lead and negotiate. Possess an in-depth, strategic knowledge of the industry; have technical expertise on commercial products and placements; in depth understanding of business strategies and company goals and ability to analyze issues and apply broad knowledge of business, legal and economic environment to develop new strategies. Comprehensive knowledge of the South African short term insurance markets.

Education

An appropriate bachelor's degree or a related tertiary qualification. A postgraduate business qualification, e.g. an MBA will be advantageous. Professional Designation in the Insurance Industry - Associate/Fellow Registration as a Representative and Key Individual in terms of the FAIS act.

Work Experience

Have a minimum of 10 years managerial experience (must have managed managers in the relevant solution lines) Minimum of 10 to 15 years underwriting and / or claims experience and /or client experience preferably in an Insurance Broking environment.
