Estimator (roads & Earthworks) Johannesburg
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate tender estimates for Roads & Earthworks projects.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to compile Bill of Quantities (BOQs) .
Conduct cost analysis and provide value-engineering alternatives.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations and prepare comparison schedules.
Use Candy (CCS) for estimating and programming inputs.
Collaborate with engineers, quantity surveyors, and project managers to ensure robust and competitive pricing.
Contribute to tender handovers and assist execution teams with cost data.
7-15 years' proven experience in estimating (Roads & Earthworks).
Site-based exposure to roads and earthworks projects advantageous.
Additional knowledge in dams, township infrastructure, bridges, or large-bore pipelines would be a plus.
Education & Qualifications
BSc / BTech Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying preferred.
Equivalent hands-on estimating experience will also be considered.
Skills
Strong proficiency in CCS Candy (estimating and programming).
Good knowledge of MS Excel .
Strong attention to detail, numerical ability, and analytical thinking.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Profile
Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate estimates on medium-to-large projects.
Experience within top-tier or reputable contractors in South Africa or the SADC region.
