The incumbent would be required to choose and assemble the correct equipment to electronically gather video/stills and record audio, maintaining picture quality in relation to the channels broadcast standards.

Filming
Filming news events and recording audio material to be edited and packaged for news broadcasts.
Planning and developing the visual presentation of the story, in conjunction with the Input Editor or reporter assigned to the story.
Ensuring the principles of visual story telling are applied through aesthetically pleasing and technically correct compositions, angles and camera movements and making sure to deliver images with the correct exposure and colour saturation.
Ensuring the correct use of lighting and sound recording techniques in accordance with prescribed broadcast standards.
Conducting interviews by asking probing questions that are in line with the story brief.
Being available and prepared should the need arise to do a live crossing in front of the camera. In extreme cases bureaus/deployments where there is no Reporter.
From time to time, you will be required to operate in a multi camera environment, live or prerecorded and outside broadcast.
Live Events
Filming live events using the Live U or any other live equipment.
Ensuring steady and controlled camera movements while filming live events as per broadcast standards and guidelines.
Ensuring camera is set up timeously and ready to stream visuals when needed.
Flagging any possible technical problems timeously.
Editing
Editing of video and audio news stories filmed on location.
Delivering edited or raw material from location to the studio or to bureaus as instructed.
Writing copy and voicing stories when required to do so (only in extreme cases those working from bureaus).
Maintenance
Maintaining the ENG kit assigned and ensuring that the necessary camera checks have been performed to ensure that it is in a working condition for the duration of the shoot. Testing liveU cables before leaving the office. Ensure that your equipment
and vehicles are clean at all times. Report any faults on the vehicle or your kit.
Qualifications
National Senior Certificate - Essential
3-year National Diploma in Broadcast - Essential
Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast - Recommended
Experience
3 years as an ENG Camera Operator - Essential
Live Broadcast - Essential
