MUST HAVE ATLEAST 5 YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IN ELECTRO-PLATING/ GALVANISING/POWDERCOATING/ CERAMIC COATING PLANT

Metal cleaning and coating company in Montague Gardens looking for a manager. Previous experience is mandatory.

A typical manager's day is a hands-on blend of administrative tasks, technical oversight, team leadership, and quality control, all focused on meeting production goals and safety standards. The routine is dynamic and covers everything from process troubleshooting to ensuring client satisfaction.

Production planning and morning meeting:

The day typically starts with a production meeting to review the schedule and priorities for the day or week. This includes planning workflow and ensuring deadlines are met.

Safety and equipment checks:

The manager conducts or supervises checks on all machinery and equipment to ensure it is in good working order. They address any maintenance issues, check tank lining and filters, and verify electrical connections.

Process verification:

A key responsibility is testing the plating solutions in the production tanks. The manager ensures the chemical compositions, temperatures, and voltages are all within the required specifications for optimal coating.

Surface preparation overview:

The manager oversees the critical first step of surface preparation, making sure that parts are properly cleaned. This prevents defects.

Client Relations:

The manager would book in jobs, work out quotes and keep customers updated on orders.

Hands-on floor management:

Metal coating is a "hands-on" role, so the manager spends significant time on the factory floor, working directly with operators. They help with adjustments, tests, and troubleshooting as needed to keep the coating lines running smoothly.

Quality control inspections:

Throughout the day, the manager or their team performs quality checks on plated or coated products. This involves both visual and technical inspections using tools like micrometers to ensure the coating thickness, adhesion, and appearance meet customer specifications.

Personnel management:

The manager supervises and supports their team of electroplating and coating technicians, which may include training junior employees and mentoring experienced staff. They address any staffing or performance issues that arise.

Troubleshooting:

When issues like inconsistent plating, poor adhesion, or equipment malfunctions occur, the manager leads the effort to diagnose and resolve the problem. This requires a deep understanding of plating techniques, chemistry, and equipment maintenance.

Reporting and record-keeping:

The manager documents the day's production data, including quality control results, chemical usage, and any compliance-related reports.

Coordination with other departments:

A manager also liaises with other departments, to provide updates and resolve any production issues.

Preparing for the next day:

The manager may review inventory of plating materials, solutions, and chemicals to ensure adequate stock for the next production run. They also finalize the plan for the next day's workload.
