Ivanplats is looking for a Electrical Supervisor X 1 REF:IVP-ES-2501
IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this "mine of the future". Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 (NQF 4)
Recognised Trade Qualification (Section 13/26D) or completed apprenticeship with NTC 2 Trade Theory
Senior Foreman-related certification or equivalent international qualification (preferred)
Fault-finding and troubleshooting
Team leadership and mentoring
Contractor and resource management
Planning and coordination of electrical projects
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of power reticulation systems (LV, MV, HV)
Understanding of electrical safety regulations and MHSA compliance
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
Minimum 10 years post-apprenticeship experience, with at least 4 years as a qualified artisan in mining electrical environments
Proven track record in managing electrical installations in shaft sinking projects
Experience in electrical construction projects in both surface and underground mining environments (preferred)
Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Plan, coordinate, and supervise electrical infrastructure installation, testing, and commissioning
Ensure electrical work meets project specifications, quality standards, and deadlines
Conduct planned and preventative maintenance on electrical systems including substations, transformers, and HV/MV/LV networks
Enforce compliance with MHSA regulations, electrical codes, and SHEQ standards
Lead and mentor electrical teams, supporting skills transfer initiatives
Manage electrical materials, tools, spares, and contractors to meet project requirements within budget
Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and safety meetings
Support commissioning activities and verify operational readiness
Liaise with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success
