Ivanplats is looking for a SECTION VENTILATION OFFICER X 1 REF: IVP-GEO-2501
IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this "mine of the future". Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
National Senior Certificate, Grade 12 Matric or equivalent.
Chamber of Mines Intermediate Certificate.
Working towards completion of Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (50%).
The following Certificates will be advantageous:
+ Occupational Hygiene measurements
+ Occupational Hygiene Risk Management
+ Occupational Hygiene Legal Knowledge
+ Project Management
+ Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (Completed) Member/Associate with the Mine Ventilation Society Of South Africa (MVSSA)
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
Computer literate in MS Office.
Proficiency in Ventilation simulation software (Vuma3D, Vent Sim) will be advantageous.
Proficiency in Mine planning and scheduling software (Deswik) will be advantageous
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene field
Trackless mining experience will be advantageous
Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Ensure that legal requirements, IVP standards and policies are adhered to, to achieve legal compliance
Interpretation of legal requirements
Ensures adherence to legal compliance through monitoring and reporting
Responsible to ensure that policies, programmes, standards, codes of practice and procedures are maintained in accordance with legal requirements
Statutory Plans are in place and up to date (Ventilation plans and mine rescue plans)
Maintain Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene strategies and systems.
Measure compliance to Section 11 and 12 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Occupational Health Risk Assessment and Monitoring)
Measure compliance to the Environmental Engineering and Occupational Hygiene Regulations of the Mine Health and Safety Act pertaining to monitoring and reporting
Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene programmes are properly administered
Assist in the development of the best practices, standards and procedures
Advice on management on Business Area Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene planning, technical systems and administration
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Emergency preparedness programmes
Report and advice on Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene matters
Participate in mining Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene technological improvement studies
Provide solutions to specific Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene matters(known or identified via trend analysis)
Adhere to ventilation and Occupational Hygiene policies, procedures and standards.
Identification, evaluation and recommendation of appropriate inventions. Reporting structures
Meet time deadlines pertaining to reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc)
Provide information and advice regarding ventilation and Occupational Hygiene matters related to a specific workplace or section of the business area
Advice on changes to plans, schedules, procedures and standards to minimise the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
Ensures adherence to legal compliance in terms of required reports
Ensures valid statistics for ventilation and Occupational Hygiene are available for all workplaces or sections of the business area
Timeous submission of statutory reports
Occupational related exposure histories are recorded and reported
promotes a safe and healthy working environment
Operational Risk Management and auditing
Maintain effective risk management programmes
Participate in audits
Ensure follow up of risk assessments and audits findings, and the implementation of recommendations made
