Lead and supervise electrical installation teams for LV/MV gensets, transformers, switchgear, and related systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise installation, commissioning, and maintenance of LV/MV gensets and associated systems.
Conduct inspections, diagnostics, fault-finding, and repairs in line with OEM and regulatory standards.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams for complex installations.
Maintain accurate service logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure adherence to OH&S, risk assessments, and quality standards.
Lead, mentor, and train electricians and technicians.
Provide on-call support during emergencies, faults, and planned shutdowns.
Project Management:
Oversee site establishment, BOM preparation, and execution of electrical installation projects.
Programming:
Configure and program generator control systems (ComAp, DeepSea).
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Trade-tested Electrician with valid 3-phase Wireman's license.
National Diploma (N3+) or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering.
5-7 years' experience
in LV/MV genset & transformer installations and maintenance.
Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or leading role.
Strong ability to interpret schematics and perform fault diagnosis.
Clear understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and OEM specs.
Valid driver's licence and reliable transport; willingness to work flexible hours including standby.
Desirable:
Experience in MV switchgear, protection relays, or HV distribution systems.
Formal training in OH&S, project management, or technical instruction.
Exposure to industrial/commercial power systems or EPCM projects.
Candidates who are South African Citizens or Permanent Residents will be given preference in accordance with South African Labour Law.
Technical & Soft Skills
Proficient in LV/MV electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance.
Skilled in programming generator controllers (ComAp, DeepSea).
Strong leadership, planning, and interpersonal communication.
Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making competency.
Ability to manage resources, schedules, and contribute to project planning.
Meticulous documentation and report-writing skills.
Working Conditions
On-site supervision across industrial, commercial, or mining sites.
Involvement in planned shutdowns, project rollouts, or critical fault responses.
May require travel and occasional overnight stays related to project deadlines.
Physically demanding, with compliance to PPE and safety protocols.
