Electrical Engineer Manufacturing ~ Renewable Energy
Cape Town - Western Cape - South Africa

The Electrical Engineer will utilize their technical expertise to ensure the successful completion of projects, collaborate with other departments to provide technical assistance and act as a liaison between the engineering team and the project team to ensure effective communication and collaboration. In this role, you will assist the R&D/Engineering team and improve the overall efficiency of our company and the quality of our transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Support and develop the Engineering department
• Build, design, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the engineering department.
• Review and assist with updating The companys technical requirements (EPC guidelines)
• Actively review and assist with updating technical processes to ensure we deliver and manage world-class solar PV systems that meet the funders and all legal requirements.
• Undertake technical due diligence for projects and suppliers directly or with other departments' support.
• Provide support to the project development team on specific projects.
• Ensure the company technical processes are followed, and all related documentation is submitted and filed away for future reference.
• Design to legal & The company standards & sign off
• Develop, review, and vet project designs, drawings, simulations, the scope of Works (SOW), Bill of Quantities (BOQ), project proposals, full-scale project plans, schedule, and associated
• Solar-specific software assists with project drawings, designs, and yield reports.
• Create a recommendations report identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
• Perform commissioning checks on-site with contractors to ensure the system has been delivered according to predefined parameters and specifications to The company standards.
• Review and approve changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.
• Review and approve all milestone documentation from an engineering compliance perspective.
• Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting.
• Engineering due diligence on all new financed products developed by The company
• Initial project feasibility
• Performing site assessments to identify project-specific constraints and provide feedback in a formal report.
• Other related duties, as required.

Experience and Qualification

• Three years work experience in the solar PV environment and a good understanding of solar PV and related technologies.
• BEng Elec or Msc Elec Eng qualification registered with ECSA not as candidate
• Must have 3 years of proven electrical engineering experience
• A drivers license is required
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work to strict deadlines & budgets.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PVSyst, Helioscope
• Broad technical background in areas such as CAD design systems, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, and/or electro-mechanical design and control system development.
• Strong problem-solving skills, and the practical application of strong mechanical design theory and analytical skills.
• Proficient in MS Office applications; familiarity with AutoCAD/AutoCAD-Electrical version 2008 or greater.
