Christel House South Africa seeks an exceptional Mathematics Teacher to champion the CAPS curriculum through innovative cooperative learning approaches. Beyond delivering rigorous academic content, you will foster real-world connections to mathematics, driving critical thinking, creativity, and excellence. Through dynamic, technology-enhanced, student-centered environments, you will prepare students to excel both academically and in life. You will also serve on the Mathematics MTSS team, supporting students by addressing foundational gaps or extending high performers through Advanced Programme (AP) Mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the High School Principal, the incumbent will be responsible to:
Teach Mathematics (Grades 8-12) aligned to the CAPS curriculum and Christel House South Africa's mission.
Apply innovative cooperative learning strategies and technology to create dynamic, student-centered classrooms.
Drive students toward achieving a minimum of 50% in examinations through targeted support, intervention, and feedback.
Support the Mathematics MTSS team by addressing foundational gaps and extending students through AP Mathematics initiatives.
Lead or participate in extracurricular activities and projects that extend student learning beyond the classroom.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum integrity and continuous professional growth.
Integrate new educational trends and tools to enhance teaching and deepen student engagement.
Report to the High School Principal under the guidance of the Head of Mathematics.
Key Requirements:
A relevant bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (preferred).
Registered with SACE, adhering to its standards and ethics.
Strong knowledge of the Gr 8 - 12 Mathematics Curricula (CAPS-aligned).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for working with students from socio-economically disadvantaged communities.
Competence in facilitating higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning.
Applicants must be willing to obtain the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification within six months of appointment and maintain active status as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE))
