We are seeking a dynamic Life Orientation Teacher for Grades 8 and 9, passionate about empowering students to break the cycle of poverty through personal development, career readiness, ethical citizenship, and resilience. Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the High School Principal, the incumbent is responsible to:
Design and deliver outcomes-focused, comprehensive lesson plans as part of Christel House South Africa's broader Life Orientation program for Grades 8 and 9.
Deliver the CAPS Life Orientation curriculum for Grades 8 and 9, integrating Christel House South Africa's Career Guidance Template (CGT) objectives, which reflect the school's unique mission, while ensuring full alignment with national curriculum standards.
Support College and Careers initiatives, including student career exposure, job-shadowing opportunities, and engagements with external speakers and service providers, under the guidance of the Career Experience Coach.
Utilize technology to enhance curriculum delivery and actively engage students in interactive, meaningful learning experiences.
Assess student performance with a strong focus on career readiness and academic achievement, providing actionable feedback to drive continuous student growth.
Lead or participate in extracurricular activities and projects that extend student learning beyond the classroom.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum coherence, share resources, and support professional development.
Stay abreast of educational trends, integrating innovative methodologies and tools into teaching practices to enhance student outcomes.
Key Requirements:
A relevant bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (preferred).
Registered with SACE, adhering to its standards and ethics.
Strong knowledge of the Life Orientation Curriculum (CAPS-aligned).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for working with students from socio-economically disadvantaged communities.
Competence in facilitating higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning.
Applicants must be willing to obtain the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification within six months of appointment and maintain active status as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE).
