About the position:

We are seeking a passionate English Home Language Teacher who inspires a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the High School Principal, the incumbent with be responsible to: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans for English Home Language (Grades 8-12), aligning with Christel House South Africa's academic and developmental goals. Utilize technology and innovative strategies to enhance curriculum delivery and promote interactive, student-centered learning. Monitor and assess student performance with a strong focus on examination success, providing targeted feedback to support continuous improvement. Lead or participate in extracurricular activities and projects that extend student learning beyond the classroom, fostering a love for language and literature. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment, share best practices, and contribute to professional learning communities. Stay current with educational trends, integrating new methodologies and tools to enrich teaching practices and promote higher-order thinking.

Key Requirements

A relevant bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (preferred). Registered with SACE, adhering to its standards and ethics. Strong knowledge of the English Home Language Curricula (CAPS-aligned). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for working with students from socio-economically disadvantaged communities. Competence in facilitating higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning. Applicants must be willing to obtain the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification within six months of appointment and maintain active status as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE).
