So, we decided to try running a 'normal' shop - as opposed to one-day deals - to fully satisfy SA's need for quality sex toys any day of the week!

About you

Although you may appear pleasant on the surface, the ugly truth is that you are a stickler for detail. You're more organised than a wedding planner, a hunter(ess) for amazing deals, and a bulldog when it comes to negotiating.

You understand consumers and the buying process. Your main responsibility is the day-to-day management of product and suppliers within the business. You should be able to analyse product and sales data to inform, compliment and improve overall business, marketing and sales strategies.

Responsibilities:

Buying

  • Identify new product and supplier opportunities to profitably expand the product offering in line with overall business & marketing strategies.
  • Negotiate price points, units, and timelines on new & existing products to ensure ONO remains highly competitive and differentiated in the market.
  • Define quality requirements, test and evaluate new products.
Merchandising
  • Responsible for sourcing and loading new product assets & data, ensuring 100% accuracy and adhering to SEO best practices with the goal of maximising product sales and conversions.
  • Ensure product pricing is always competitive and in line with overall strategy.
  • Select stock for Weekly Deals, promotions and sales to support overall business goals.
  • Assist with product categorisation and building out new product collections.
Procurement
  • Continuously assess stock levels and sales data to generate purchase orders for replenishment.
  • Source and analyse supplier quotes to ensure costs are monitored and managed.
  • Update product costs ensuring RRPs remain competitive.
  • Submit supplier invoices for payment.
  • Arrange supplier collections/deliveries.
  • Oversee & assist with receiving.
Supplier Management
  • Identify new suppliers & maintain existing relationships for both local and international suppliers.
  • Negotiate favourable supplier terms.
  • Act as the main point of contact in all supplier matters.
  • Monitor, analyse and meet with suppliers on a regular basis to identify opportunities and address shortcomings.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Analyse & report on product, category & supplier performance to inform buying, marketing & overall business strategy, and ensure optimal stockholding.
  • Regularly perform product & customer specific market research to be well equipped to pick the right product mix for the ONO target market.
  • Trend forecasting to ensure ONO remains at the forefront of the adult wellness revolution.
Admin
  • Assist with stocktakes and compiling monthly stock reports.
  • Resolve any stock issues with stock controller & suppliers (system discrepancies, short deliveries, expired stock, barcode printing etc.)
  • Compile, arrange & monitor monthly supplier returns and credits.
  • Assist with sourcing supplier invoices & documentation for courier claims on lost/damaged cargo.
Requirements, skills, and qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification (relevant BSc / BCom degree).
  • Demonstrated sales/buying experience in an e-commerce environment advantageous.
  • Basic accounting and/or business knowledge.
  • Strong copywriting, excellent use of grammar with impeccable written & verbal communication, and basic photo editing skills are non-negotiable.
  • Experience working with Shopify, inventory management software and an exceptional knowledge of Excel is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of non-technical SEO best practices.
  • Excellent computer literacy with knowledge of Google Workspace & Microsoft Office is a must.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work while maintaining accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong affiliation to systems, utilising them to increase productivity and scale operations in line with the business strategy.
  • Positive attitude.

  • Highly analytical.
  • Fast learner that embraces constructive feedback.
