RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the operation of vehicles (tractors, cars, and trucks*) to maintain and develop gardens at the University according to the season, using the vehicle assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Grade 8 with at least six (6) months of experience driving various vehicle types, including experience operating relevant equipment such as (but not limited to*) ride-on mowers, tractors, tractors with trailers, and other grass-cutting vehicles; A valid driver's license.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):Knowledge of trees, plants, and lawn-care;
Knowledge of relevant specialized equipment;
Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations;
Knowledge of turf grass maintenance;
Ability to operate various specialised vehicles;
Ability to operate relevant specialized equipment;
Ability to take instructions and apply them correctly;
Ability to actively participate as a member of a team to move toward the completion of goals;
Able to work independently;
Ability to plan and support development.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES: Six (6*) months of experience in a horticultural environment; Health and Safety Certificate or any relevant specialized equipment certificate;
Six (6*) months of experience in caring for, managing, and developing gardens.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
