POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Teaching & Learning serves as a key school-wide leader advancing the coherence of curriculum, instruction, and assessment from PK-12. This role aligns with the school's mission and goals by fostering collaboration, data-informed practice, and innovation that enhance teaching, learning, and student-learner success. The Director is responsible for developing a robust, responsive professional learning program. The Director will work collaboratively as an effective member of the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring efficient communication and connections between the Director, divisional Principals, and various departments within the school. The role involves leading the effort to enhance the academic, intellectual, and personal development of learners through a comprehensively articulated curriculum, evidence-based instruction, and reflective practices that support learner growth and development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
A Master's degree in Education (preferably in Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Leadership)
Valid teaching credential with five years of instructional coaching or curriculum coordination/leadership experience. A Principal credential is highly desirable
Extensive PK-12 expertise in curriculum, assessment, and evidence-based instruction
Strong knowledge of PLC (Professional Learning Community), Adapvite Schools, and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) frameworks
Range of diversity in past experiences working across various divisions of a school (early childhood, elementary school, middle school, high school)
Understanding and experience with inquiry/Concept-based learning & International Baccalaureate programs.

Curriculum Coherence and PK-12 Leadership:
The Director will oversee and lead school-wide PK-12 curriculum alignment, development, review cycles, and coherence of instruction and assessment.
Strategic Vision and Planning:
The role involves driving the refinement and implementation of the school's strategic vision and plan as a key member of the Leadership Team.
Professional Learning (PL) Design and Delivery:
A core responsibility is developing an evidence-based, high-quality PL program and skillfully leading adult learning, including organizing weekly professional collaboration time.
Instructional Coaching and Team Oversight:
The Director provides broad oversight and development for the school's Instructional Coaches.
Data-Informed Practice:
The Director must lead and model the effective use of data for decision-making and assist with data analysis regarding educational program effectiveness and standardized testing results.
Collaborative and Relational Leadership:
The individual needs strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to cultivate healthy, positive, and productive relationships, especially through consistent collaboration with divisional Principals.
Inquiry and Concept-Based Instruction:
Expertise is required in general curriculum and current theories, including concept-based curricula, inquiry learning, and associated pedagogies.
Inclusive and Open-minded:
The Director must foster a positive, inclusive school culture, appreciate the host country culture, and demonstrate knowledge and action related to ensuring AISJ is a community where all learners are valued and accepted.
Sustainability and Budget Management:
The Director must understand the school's financial economics. Balancing resources with program and staffing. Recognizing that stakeholder satisfaction is crucial to ensuring long-term sustainability. Responsibilities include monitoring the impact and managing the budget for curriculum and professional learning, ensuring strategic financial alignment.
