Job Description

The Digital Video Content Creator is responsible for conceptualising, producing, editing, and publishing high-quality video content that elevates OUTA's advocacy, supporter engagement, and brand visibility. This role identifies projects suitable for video storytelling and develops content that aligns with OUTA's mission and communication strategy. The Digital Video Content Creator must have a strong understanding of South African politics, governance issues, and current social media trends, ensuring that video content is both relevant and impactful.
The Digital Video Content Creator is based permanently in-office to collaborate closely with OUTA's communications and advocacy teams, ensuring seamless production and real-time support for video projects. The role focuses on creating short-form and long-form videos that become a leading element in OUTA's communication and engagement strategy.

  • Identify advocacy projects, campaigns, and initiatives that can be enhanced and amplified through video content.
  • Develop a video content strategy in collaboration with the Brand Manager to ensure video becomes a primary communication tool for OUTA.
  • Proactively conceptualise video content ideas that support OUTA's advocacy work, supporter engagement, and fundraising efforts.
  • Stay informed about storytelling trends in digital video, recommending new formats and styles for OUTA content.
  • Develop concepts, write scripts/storyboards, and plan shot lists for each video project in collaboration with OUTA's communication team and project managers.
  • Film and record video content on-location and in-office, ensuring professional audio-visual quality.
  • Direct video shoots, managing contributors (staff, activists, stakeholders), ensuring they represent OUTA's brand professionally.
  • Maintain and care for OUTA's video equipment, ensuring optimal use and quality production.
  • Edit videos for multiple platforms, including social media (Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook), OUTA's website, YouTube, presentations, and events.
  • Produce both short-form and long-form video content, tailored for specific audiences and platforms.
  • Incorporate OUTA's brand elements, including logos, fonts, and visual assets, ensuring consistency across all content.
  • Apply audio editing, subtitling, color grading, motion graphics, and other post-production enhancements to deliver professional results.
  • Ensure all video content adheres to OUTA's tone, values, and brand guidelines.
  • Publish video content across OUTA's digital platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and the OUTA website.
  • Collaborate with the Supporter Engagement & Growth Manager to monitor video performance metrics (views, engagement, retention rates).
  • Use insights and analytics to optimise future video content, adapting formats and messaging to increase impact and reach.
  • Work closely with the Brand Manager, Graphic Designer, Writer/Editor, and Supporter Engagement & Growth Manager to integrate video content into OUTA's broader communication strategy.
  • Provide creative input in campaign planning sessions, brainstorming innovative video storytelling ideas.
  • Ensure videos support OUTA's advocacy, fundraising, supporter engagement, and brand development objectives.
  • Assist with internal training or onboarding videos as needed.
