Job Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel-powered construction machinery and equipment. This role ensures equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime to support construction operations.
Qualifications and Skills:

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Test / Red Seal).
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience working on construction or heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
• Valid driver's license (Code B/EB; Code C preferred).
• Willingness to work overtime, standby, and field service when required.
• Diesel engine diagnostics.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel-powered construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, dump trucks, rollers). Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults. Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures. Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and fuel systems.
• Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify mechanical and electronic faults. Test equipment after repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation. Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Equipment and Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures. Identify unsafe equipment conditions and recommend corrective action. Maintain tools, workshop equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Field Service Support: Provide on-site repairs and breakdown assistance when required. Communicate with supervisors regarding equipment condition, downtime, and repair timelines. Assist in commissioning new or repaired equipment.
