OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• Analysis of electronic devices such as laptops, cellphones and hard drives.
• Social media analysis.
• Translation of audio and written communication from any of the recognized South African languages into English as it relates to cases or where instructed to do so.
• Understand and build intelligence pictures on Targets (repeat offenders for example) identified through device analysis.
• Profile Management and Maintenance on the central database repository.
• Processing, Analysis & Capturing of POI (Persons of Interest) from internal sources (WhatsApp groups) and information obtained from device analysis.
• Cross reference traceable information such as registrations and biographical information with the central database repository.
• Present target profiles and case briefs to the Target Desk Head, law enforcement and management where necessary.
• Provide a written report on each case which contains the information obtained from the analysis, targets identified and recommendations for further target development.
• Processing, Analysis & Capturing of POI (Persons of Interest): OSINT (Whatsapp groups (especially Open Source) & social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok etc), Internal Sources (Online Info, SAPS reports, Ibase reports)
• Link profiles & task out further collection on POIs.
• Engagement with Predicative Intel Regional Analysts & in turn Intel: How are the suspects/syndicates operating? Is there any traceable threads/info/pics to follow up on and delegate?

OTHER KEY ANALYTICAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED BY THE ANALYST:

• Threads/traceable leads follow up/delegation to team.
• Mapping Data and analysis thereof.
• Present intelligence briefs to the necessary role-players.
• Use of Analytics Software/Forensic Instruments as part of the analysis and understanding of targets.
• Keep up to date/informed with all trends occurring inside and outside of CAP World using all WAVE (web, audio, visual, electronic) mediums.
• LPR loading/removing where necessary (Proof & Metamon).
• Monitoring of any information yielding platforms (internal & external for example Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal groups) & subsequent capture into the relevant databases.
• Social Media analysis.
• Capture into the analytics central repository (Ibase).
• Drafting statements and appearing in court as a witness where required.
• Attend training courses where required to do so.
• Extraction and Analysis of electronic devices using forensic extraction software where required.
• Telephonic contact with clients/victims/SAPS/stakeholders where necessary.
• Field Operations & Collection (when required to do so).
• Fill in & perform any other analytics tasks when/if delegated to do so.
• Any other special projects/Tasks

EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

• Proficiency in Excel is required.
• BICS (Basic interpersonal communication skills) understanding in one or more of the recognized South African languages in addition to English is required.
• Proficiency using computers/computing software is mandatory.
• Strategic, analytical thinking.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to work under pressure
• Matric mandatory
• Undergraduate degree is advantageous
• Own transport is an advantage
• PSIRA required
