If you would like to make a difference in peoplexe2x80x99s lives, and become an expert in your field, please apply for the challenging roles we have available.This Sector is looking for a talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Design Engineer: Civil Structures.We welcome your application if you meet the requirements, listed below, for this position.The below listed responsibilities and requirements is assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions.Core purpose:The core purpose of the job focuses on design and development of railway construction projects, such as bulk earthworks, roads, drainage networks including Construction Management experience. The job requires close liaison with architects, project managers and contractors to ensure that construction projects are designed according to specifications and that they meet safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.Key Responsibilities:Develop Civil construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and design standards.Collaborate with architects, contractors and other construction professionals to ensure that designs are feasible and meet all client project requirements.Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create and refine construction project designs. Creating 3D models and animations using CAD, Civil 3D and BIM software.Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability of new designs and construction techniques.Develop and maintain project and contract documentation, including design reports and drawings and specifications.Ensure that construction projects meet statutory and regulatory requirements and adhere to safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary project team to ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with defined quality standards.Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings and making recommendations to senior project management team members.Conduct regular project team meetings and providing guidance and support to multi-disciplinary project team members.Ensure that all project stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and any project planning and milestone changes. Qualifications and ExperienceBSc/BEng Degree or BTech (Civil). Must provide Certificate with transcriptRegistered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer. Must provide Certificate with registration number.At least 10 yearsxe2x80x99 experienceFive (5) of the ten (10) years post professional registration (Pr Eng/ Pr Tech Eng) should be in planning, preparing/ managing designs and delivery of civil infrastructure scope within multi-disciplinary projects including bulk earthworks, roads, drainage networks including Construction Management experience.Strong technical background in Civil Engineering.Excellent design skills.Core Competencies/RequirementsHave a strong technical background in Civil engineering, as well as excellent design and problem-solving skills.Have a good working knowledge of construction implementation processes and standards as well as project management principles.Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role.Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools including ACAD, Civil 3D software or other engineering tools.Must have MS Office experience.Must be able to work independently.Must be able to guide and lead supporting staff.
