Meet regularly with bus operators and other stakeholders (communities, employers, local authorities) to discuss operations, issues and improvements.
Monitor contracted subsidised bus services, including routes, timetables, vehicle condition and electronic equipment, and ensure operators comply with contract requirements.
Compile accurate monthly reports and statistics (penalties, disputes, monitoring results, site inspections, claims and additional trips) for the Representative.
Maintain an organised record system (minutes, instructions to operators, monitoring sheets, timetables, time sheets and vehicle log sheets).
Prepare weekly monitoring rosters and supervise monitoring staff to ensure coverage, quality of observations and adherence to rosters.
Liaise with affected parties (Department of Transport, operators, community representatives, employers, etc.) and assist with communicating service changes and fare adjustments where applicable.
Requirements
Grade 12 (relevant diploma/degree in Transport, Logistics, Public Administration or similar an advantage).
5+ years experience in public transport / fleet operations / contract monitoring or a similar operations role.
Strong reporting, administration and record-keeping skills.
Confident chairing meetings and engaging with operators, communities and government stakeholders.
Computer literate (MS Office especially Excel and Word).
Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel within the Free State.
