Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Demand Planner to be based at Rosebank, Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Supply Chain & Strategic Projects Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

We are seeking a skilled Demand Planner to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping our supply chain and operational success. As a Demand Planner, you will be responsible for generating accurate and actionable demand forecasts that drive our production and inventory strategies. Your exceptional numerical skills will be instrumental in analyzing historical sales data, utilizing statistical models, and identifying demand drivers to create a rolling 24 to 36-month forecast at SKU, customer, and weekly levels.

Your role as a facilitator of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process will be vital. You will lead the Demand Review sessions, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, particularly the Commercial team, to integrate market insights, promotional activity assumptions, and detailed forecasts. Your ability to build and refine forecasts based on robust assumptions will contribute to aligning and driving consensus across departments.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Generate a rolling 24-to-36-month baseline Forecast (FC) at a SKU (Stock-Keeping Unit), customer and weekly level by using historical sales data, statistical modelling as well as demand forecast drivers.
  • Drive collaboration meetings with the Commercial teams to add on market/ promotional activity assumptions in order to get an aligned/ signed off consensus forecast.
  • Maintain APO master data to enable consensus forecast to effectively pull through into MRP for production planning.
  • Co-ordinate monthly collaboration meetings with Commercial teams to reconcile significant variances/ changes to forecast and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
  • Continuously undertake SKU analysis and trending to support the Sales and Marketing teams, while analysing deviations to plan on a weekly and monthly basis and initiating resolutions.
  • Place detailed emphasis on analysis of promotional activity and provide insights to the Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Document all assumptions related to forecast changes accordingly.
  • Highlight all short-term changes (ie
3 months) to the Production Planning team and obtain feedback as to whether these changes are feasible or not - feedback to be shared with the Commercial team accordingly and signed off plans updated where required. * Facilitate the Demand Review process as part of the wider IBP process.
  • Facilitate New Product forecasting.
  • Measure KPI's (forecast accuracy, bias, and sales to plan) on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Build and maintain good communication and collaboration with all stakeholders within the business to ensure good relationships and effective alignment.
  • Compile and ensure effective setup to manage the MRP (Material Resource Planning) for continuity in raw, Packaging materials and ingredients with the MRP controller.
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • BCom Degree in Supply Chain or related field.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Supply Chain experience within an FMCG environment.
  • Strong experience in Demand and Supply Planning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impact.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of IBP and the demand planning process.
  • Working knowledge of SAP APO.
