Job Description


JOB PURPOSE

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a solid combination of communications and relationship management skills, combined with practical experience in managing people, resources and programmes in an operationally intense and fast-moving organisation. The successful candidate will be committed to and passionate about Rhiza Holdings mission, vision and values and must be a highly motivated self-starter who brings a business-like achievement and management orientation to the role. The candidate will recognise the importance of Rhiza Holdings becoming a leading organisation in respect of the vision of the company in bringing about systemic, yet financially viable change. The Delivery Manager would be expected to model those values and encourage the team to share and adapt best practice across Rhiza Holdings and with partners.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Management and financial oversight

  • The Delivery Manager has responsibility for the organisational management, financial performance, and accountability of Rhiza Holdings. The Delivery Manager should ensure that the organisation adheres to all relevant national laws as well as legal agreements with national and international affiliates. The integrity and reputation of Rhiza Holdings should be upheld at all times.
Program Quality
  • The Delivery Manager should ensure that Rhiza Holdings programming activity is of a high quality and aligned with the worlds very best standards.
Building the team and change leadership.
  • Grow and maintain a high performing, motivated team, leading and engaging existing managers while also attracting new talent to the organisation. Lead the organisation through significant change and growth, embracing new skills without downgrading existing ones.
Partnerships
  • Maintain and expand existing and new complementary relationships with strategic partnering organisations to ensure optimisation of outcomes of the holistic community development model. Internal relationships: Foster positive and collaborative working relationships with the other sister organisations of BCDT, Rhiza Babuyile and Rhiza International.
Revenue generation
  • Maintain and grow the revenue base (funding) of the organisation, where appropriate innovating and testing new approaches and methods while optimising the existing revenue generation streams and ensuring the right mix of income to have a sustainable, effective organisation. Help build a network of major corporate, foundation, public and individual funders in South Africa and Internationally.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Foster strong relationships with project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project objectives. Resolve conflicts and facilitate decision-making among stakeholders.
Project Governance:
  • Define and enforce project governance standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Implement project management methodologies and tailor them to fit project needs. Review and approve project charters, plans, and progress reports.
Risk and Issue Management:
  • Develop a risk management framework and oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks
  • Escalate critical issues and roadblocks to senior management for resolution.
Performance Metrics and Reporting:
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for project and Rhiza Holdings Portfolio success.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior management and stakeholders on project and Rhiza Holdings portfolio performance. Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them.
Resource Management:
  • Collaborate with department managers to allocate and manage project resources effectively.
Loans Management:
  • Originate, process, and close loans in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Manage a portfolio of loans and monitor delinquencies to minimize losses.
  • Provide reporting on the loan management accounts and systems.
Legal and governance:
  • Collaborate with legal department for risk management, and compliance to the complex set of processes, rules, tools and systems used by corporate legal departments to adopt, implement and monitor an integrated approach to business problems.
Licensing:
  • Collaborating with legal and compliance on how to register and renew required licenses.
  • How to generate and interpret reports on licenses.
  • How to investigate and integrate future licenses into the business.
Fundraising and donor management:
  • Supporting our fundraising departments in South Africa and internationally through providing information requested such as financial budgets, project reports, timelines and other information required.
  • Maintain a list of donors and their budgets, timelines, output and impact expectations and communicate with the fundraising team any deviations from these expectations proactively to discuss best solutions.
  • Any fundraising activities should be done in collaboration with our fundraising team in South Africa or internationally. However, bringing in leads could lead to a bonus by the end of the financial year.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) , business administration, or related field
  • Working knowledge of management software programs.
  • Strong IT skills, including database development
  • Multiple years of financial and account reporting experience
  • experience in licensing and loans
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Five or more years of proven success in a Delivery Management role
  • Worked in an NPO or social enterprise at management level
  • Passionate about holistic development

  • Strong skills in budget development and oversight
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations
  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications

  • Project Management: A proven track record of successful implementation of projects and programmes. A hands-on approach towards this is absolutely crucial for the successful implementation of this role.
