Job Description

Job Summary To develop and implement an integrated People & Talent Management Strategy for The Group Brands' Network (Importers & Dealers) in Africa, aligning with both Group and retail automotive standards. The role also includes strategic oversight of The Group's training facilities and assets, with a strong emphasis on technology and digital integration to future-proof the network's capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive The Group Brands' Network People & Talent Strategy aligned with Group standards, specifically tailored for the retail automotive environment.
  • Manage the outsourced training service provider, applying governance models, ensuring delivery in accordance with contractual SLAs and annually defined KPIs.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of targeted training programs:
  • New model launches & technology updates
  • Role-specific learning paths (Group Certification)
  • Brand projects, compliance, and ad hoc training requests
  • Create and publish an annual training prospectus, including service catalogues, schedules, pricing, and quality standards per Brand.
  • Maintain and manage training facilities and assets (fleet, tools, equipment) to Group standards and in compliance with OSHEE regulations.
  • Oversee OPEX & CAPEX budgets, ensuring alignment with Group purchasing guidelines and timely financial reporting.
  • Conduct benchmarking and trend analysis to ensure service relevance and strategic alignment with Brand and business objectives.
  • Lead the annual Training Needs Analysis (TNA) process with Brands and facilitate regular performance reviews, including quarterly formal reporting.
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Purchasing, Finance, Legal, Learning Academies, IS).
  • Lead the procurement process for new services, from compiling specifications to managing RFQs in line with Purchasing Guidelines.
  • Oversee support services (security, cleaning, catering, etc.) across all training facilities in accordance with service agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards and legislative bodies (e.g., MerSETA, QCTO, TUEV, HPCSA) for training delivery.
  • Enforce best practices in data management, integrity, and reporting across all functions.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Management, Human Resources Management, or related field.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in the automotive industry, with a strong focus on training and development.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of retail environments, Importer/Dealer structures, and network dynamics

  • Proven project management skills handling complexity and volume

  • Cultural awareness and ability to lead diverse specialist teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred / Added Advantage:
  • Technical qualification (e.g., Technician or Engineering background)
  • Strong affinity for technology, digital systems, and applications
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Understanding of data analytics, management, and governance
  • Experience in procurement, purchasing guidelines, and managing outsourced services
  • Familiarity with training accreditations and legal compliance in South Africa
