THE ORGANISATION

AMANDLA is a globally award-winning social enterprise with over a decade of experience in socio-economic development with a focus on youth, local economies, infrastructure, collective impact, and sport. We have offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg (South Africa), Berlin (Germany), Delhi (India) and Philadelphia (USA).

Early childhood is the most critical stage of human development, yet millions of young children in South Africa still lack access to quality early learning opportunities. As a result, families and communities often lack the means to give children a strong start, and poor access to ECD services continues to limit children's learning, health, and future opportunities. These early challenges reinforce South Africa's broader cycle of poverty, inequality, and unemployment, undermining both individual potential and collective progress.

The Amandla ECD programme was developed with a vision to create an even playing field for all children by providing safe, inclusive, and play-based learning environments. It supports children and young people in vulnerable communities to develop essential skills, thrive, and succeed, made possible through strong collaboration and collective impact.

The programme uses a targeted and evidence-based approach to:

- Create safe and inclusive spaces for young children and families.

- Deliver holistic, play-based programmes that support learning and wellbeing.

- Build local capacity so that communities can sustain and expand these programmes over time.

JOB SCOPE

The Data Coordinator plays a key role in supporting AMANDLA's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes by ensuring that accurate, meaningful, and user-friendly data is collected, organised, and shared with teams and stakeholders. With a relational and supportive approach, the Data Coordinator contributes to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL), enhancing programme delivery, demonstrating outcomes, and illustrating AMANDLA's impact through clear data insights and visuals.

- Support Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes, including data quality assurance, indicator tracking, and safeguarding-aligned reporting.

- Collaborate with internal teams to support data-related tasks, offering encouragement and technical guidance.

- Coordinate and oversee data-collection activities in a respectful, professional, and community-centred manner.

- Maintain and improve data-collection tools, ensuring they are practical and user-friendly for all stakeholders.

- Track ECD centres' progress toward compliance goals and celebrate achievements with partners.

- Manage participation data for the LEGO PlayBox programme to demonstrate evidence of impact.

- Create simple, engaging visual representations of data that highlight AMANDLA's work and success stories.

- Travel Requirements: This role requires regular domestic travel (average five days per month) to AMANDLA's 11 Safe-Hub Precincts on rotation for data verification audits, stakeholder engagement and feedback sessions, and on-the-job mentoring on sound data-collection methods and accuracy.
