To capture patient information accurately and timeously into a computerized database according to Good Clinical Practice
Location:
32 Princess of Wales Terrace, Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital - Parktown, Westdene and Soweto, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Data Capturing
Capture new patient data within 3 working days
Identify missing data, inconsistencies, and errors and follow up or report on missing data or errors
Resolve data queries raised with relevant stakeholders within 3 days
Upload images of special investigations to study online portals within 3 working days
Quality Assurance
Perform daily data cleaning and quality control checks
Record quality-assured information on the Quality Control File Register
Check the accuracy of manually captured data
Check and compare patient history and data (i.e., height, weight, and medication history, etc.)
Resolve discrepancies and queries with relevant parties
Print relevant documentation and file it in patient files
Data Administration
Ensure that all documentation is filed timeously and systematically
Maintain and update patient files
Perform GCP-based quality checks on patient files
Complete and sign in a QC register for files reviewed
Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12 with Advanced Computer and Typing skills are essential
Certificate in Business Administration or Data Capturing
Certificate in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 2 years experience in Data Capturing or Administration
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Light lifting might be required from time to time
Working experience in a healthcare environment
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Good administrative skills together with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and database packages
Demonstrated data-capturing speed and accuracy
Must be thorough with good attention to detail
Able to work to deadlines
Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Able to work in a pressurized environment
Confidentiality, tact, and discretion must be maintained at all times
Communicate effectively with all Unit staff
Maintain effective working relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff
Overtime and traveling may be required from time to time
