About the Role
Crest Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Phase Afrikaans Teacher (Grades 8 & 9) to join our team in 2026. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting learners who find languages challenging and will approach teaching with creativity, empathy, and patience.
You will play a vital role in helping learners build a positive relationship with Afrikaans through engaging, accessible lessons that make language learning enjoyable and confidence-building.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Afrikaans FAL (Grades 8-9) using differentiated, multi-sensory methods suited to varied learning needs.
Design creative, structured lessons that foster comprehension, fluency, and enthusiasm for the language.
Provide remedial support where needed, scaffolding learning for students who experience difficulty.
Collaborate closely with principal and parents to ensure holistic learner progress.
Create a classroom culture that is encouraging, inclusive, and grounded in mutual respect.
Monitor and assess learner growth regularly, adjusting instruction as needed.
Communicate promptly and compassionately with parents and guardians. About You
Bachelor's Degree in Education (Afrikaans specialisation or equivalent).
SACE-registered.
Experience teaching Senior Phase (Grades 7-9) learners.
A background in remedial or inclusive education is highly advantageous.
Fluent in Afrikaans (speaking, reading, and writing).
Passionate about supporting students who learn differently.
Patient, empathetic, and adaptable teaching style.

This is a contractual position and is paid hourly which will be discussed at the interview. Interviews will be scheduled the first week in December.
