Minimum Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax legislation, and other relevant acts and standards
Able to navigate the SARS system and prepare and submit returns pertaining to income tax, provisional tax and dividends tax.
Experience in drafting objections and appeals and navigating the SARS dispute resolution channels.
Experience in analysing discrepancies in assessments and interpreting financial data and tax implications
Proficiency in reading and understanding financial statements prepared using IFRS for SMEs or full IFRS statements
Able to interpret accounting information e.g. trial balances, management accounts and identify key tax risk areas
Working knowledge of Caseware software
Working knowledge of SARS e-filing website, as well as Greatsoft or similar tax software
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Graduate or Post-Graduate Tax or Accounting Qualification
SAICA or SAIPA contract completed
PA(SA) / AGA(SA) designation or eligible to register
At least two years in a similar role within a tax compliance department in an accountancy firm
Audit or Assurance background would be an advantage

Duties and Responsibilities
Main purpose of Position
The primary focus of the position will be to provide tax services for Clients (Companies, Trusts and Exempt Entities) in the Audit as well as the Small Medium Enterprise departments.

Completing annual income tax returns for companies, trusts and exempt entities
Attending SARS appointments
Preparation and submission of dividends tax returns
Objecting to incorrect tax assessments
Provisional tax compliance
Applying for tax clearances and tax directives
SARS dispute resolution process
Dealing with queries from clients and SARS
